If the tranny acts up and you stop the truck, shut it off , wait 4 minutes then start and go again and it works for a while then it is solenoids that are sticking. The valve body and controller on mine was full of gunk. 2 of the solenoids were bad.

The 1/8 inch I mentioned is optimum but I should have also said that a worn band will be a bit more. There is also a spacer that comes in most shift kits that allows you to take up or adjust the band so the servo has a shorter movement before activating the band. Its very possible you may have a sticky shift solenoid, does this problem happen more when the car is cold, or when hot, or at any time hot or cold. To make a 2-3 shift, the band gets released and the top clutch of the input drum comes on, that top clutch is called the 3-4 clutch, this is the weak point in this unit.Gary
